Nonprofit Westchester and the Westchester Women’s Agenda host New York State Senate and Assembly Westchester Delegation Members at Legislative Breakfast Forum

White Plains, New York February 24, 2020 - Nonprofit Westchester and the Westchester Women’s Agenda hosted New York State Senate and Assembly Westchester Delegations at a Legislative Breakfast forum on Friday, February 21st at the Westchester Library System headquarters in Elmsford, NY.

The program featured a panel of Westchester Senate and Assembly members, including Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senators Shelley Mayer, Pete Harckham, Alessandra Biaggi and David Carlucci and Assembly members J. Gary Pretlow,  Steve Otis, Tom Abinanti, Amy R. Paulin Sandy Galef, and David Buchwald.

A standing room audience of Westchester County nonprofit organizations, residents and business leaders turned out to hear New York State lawmakers discuss key issues in promoting the a strong and vibrant nonprofit sector, women’s equity and other issues.   “We are thankful to the New York State Senate and Assembly Delegation for making time to hear about and respond to issues of vital importance to all Westchester residents.  With 60% of the nonprofit workforce statewide needing some form of public assistance, we must do better for both the people providing services and needing services. Our facilities train young people to enter the workforce, provide childcare, offer mental health treatment, house people with developmental disabilities and care for older adults - yet our buildings are in disrepair. We are appreciative of the opportunity to advocate for these needs,”  said Fisher, Executive Director, Nonprofit Westchester.
