Nonprofit Westchester Strong: Hope's Door

Staying home with an abuser can negatively impact victims of domestic violence and create circumstances where their safety, and the safety of their children, is further compromised. The Hope’s Door hotline and shelter have been fully operational, 24/7, throughout NYS PAUSE. Their shelter staff, front line workers, and donors have made sure that adequate food, supplies and counseling were available for their residents as well as great activities for the children in their shelters.

All of their counselors, attorneys and staff have been working remotely, caring for clients, taking on new cases, and raising critical funds to stay operational. Hope's Door has always been there for those who need them, even when it has been more difficult for victims to reach out while they shelter in place.

On June 8th, after 12 weeks of providing remote services, Hope’s Door began phasing in counseling and legal services staff at their main office in Hawthorne. They've been serving clients throughout the COVID-19 crisis, but they are glad to be back in their offices - maintaining physical distance, wearing masks, yet working together again as a team.

MISSION: Hope’s Door seeks to end domestic violence and to empower victims to achieve safety, independence, and healing from the trauma of abuse.

HOME: IT’S WHERE YOU SHOULD BE SAFE.

HOPE’S DOOR: IT’S WHO YOU CALL IF YOU’RE NOT.

If you are in immediate danger, call the police. If you or someone you know thinks they may be in an abusive relationship and needs help, call the Hope’s Door confidential, bilingual hotline, 24/7/365. HOPE’S DOOR HOTLINE: 1-888-438-8700. Learn more: https://hopesdoorny.org
