Protect Your SNAP

SNAP BENEFITS SHUTDOWN | OTDA

 SNAP Benefits Shutdown | OTDA

  • All eligible households will still receive October SNAP benefits as usual. SNAP benefits can continue to be used at all authorized retailers and farmers markets.

  • Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, November SNAP benefits may be delayed. SNAP benefits cannot be issued for November unless federal funding is authorized.

  • OTDA will notify SNAP households by November 1, 2025 on the status of November SNAP benefits through the OTDA website, NYC ACCESS HRAmyBenefits, the ebtEDGE app, and through text message.

  • All SNAP households should continue to complete all SNAP requirements including recertifications, periodic reports, and reporting changes.
  • Applications for SNAP will continue to be accepted. However, households approved for SNAP after November 1st may not receive benefits until the federal shutdown ends. New applicants can apply for SNAP or Public Assistance at their local department of social services, or online at mybenefits.ny.gov

  • The federal government shutdown does not affect Summer EBT or Public Assistance (cash) benefits.

LAWSUIT TO PROTECT FOOD SECURITY

Washington, D.C. – As millions of families face the loss of vital food assistance, the National Council of Nonprofits along with a coalition of local governments, community- and faith-based nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and workers’ rights organizations filed a lawsuit today in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island challenging the Trump-Vance administration’s unlawful suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Democracy Forward and the Lawyers’ Committee for Rhode Island represent plaintiffs.
