MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Mental Health in the Legal System - May 13

Advocacy and Support Programs – Focus on NAMI Westchester

Mission: NAMI Westchester is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. They are a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all individuals and families whose lives are affected by mental illness and co-occurring disorders. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, support and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community of hope for all those in need. NAMI offers the kind of understanding and care that only those who have lived the experience of mental illness can provide.

Healing through the Arts

Healing through the Arts is a creative and unique mental health arts-engagement program to aid in the mental well-being of our community. 50 free participatory tile-painting workshops, led by ArtsWestchester professional teaching artists, in collaboration with mental health professionals, are currently being held at Westchester-based cultural venues, mental health facilities & community sites. For information on scheduling a tile-workshop or installing a community mural at your site, please contact: Jessica Cioffoletti, Director, Arts in Education. Event brochure.

JOB TRAINING & THE ECONOMY

Healthcare Talent Pipeline Program

State of Westchester's Economy: Not-For-Profit - May 11

The Business Council of Westchester will focus on the future and Westchester’s economic recovery in a conference series that assembles top leaders from the region’s private and public industry clusters. The State of Westchester’s Economy is a four-part virtual series that will examine current economic conditions, challenges and opportunities that can drive Westchester’s economic engine into the future.

Not-for-Profits were a critical part of our response during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to funnel desperately needed funds, and providing services to those in need. As we continue to focus on the future of Westchester's economy, hear what these leaders have to say about lessons learned, and how their organizations and others can remain a driving force behind the delivery of services in our communities.
