SBA Opens Business Recovery Center in Westchester - Loans Available to Businesses, Nonprofit Organizations, Homeowners, Renters
The U.S. Small Business Administration opened a Business Recovery Center (BRC) at the New York Power Authority building in White Plains, 123 Main Street, White Plains, NY to provide one-on-one assistance to businesses, homeowners, renters and private nonprofit organizations in Westchester to apply for physical disaster loans and for Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA.
Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.
Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed personal property.

In coordination with FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Legal Assistance Program, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley can provide legal services to disaster survivors on issues including: denial of FEMA claims, disputes with insurance companies, landlord/tenant issues, lost documents, utility fees/restoration of services, illegal basement apartments, and others. For assistance, please call LSHV’s Intake Line at 1-877-574-8529.

Help Available for SNAP Recipients to Replace Food Lost During Hurricane Ida
Assistance is available to help Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients in Westchester to replace food lost as a result of power outages and flooding caused by Hurricane Ida. Additionally, residents of those communities will be able to temporarily use their SNAP benefits to purchase hot and prepared foods.

Furniture Sharehouse
Furniture Sharehouse is accepting furniture donations for distribution to local families impacted by Hurricane Ida at a Container located at 442 Waverly Avenue, Mamaroneck. They will accept good condition (no flood damage please) small apartment-scale (no oversized items) furniture. Please go to https://furnituresharehouse.org/donation-guidelines and carefully review their guidelines to see what they can/can't accept.

United Way and American Christmas: Nominate a Westchester Families for Christmas Tree Giveaway
|

United Way of Westchester and Putnam and American Christmas are teaming up to give artificial Christmas trees, complete with lights and ornaments provided by American Christmas, to 15 families nominated by nonprofits and selected by United Way. United Way is looking for non-profit organizations to nominate families who have struggled this year and for whom the receipt of a tree would make this Christmas exceptionally festive.
