Thank you Groundwork Hudson Valley for hosting NPW's Emerging Leaders on September 8th! The ELPers enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on their floating urban farm and environmental center on the Hudson River called the Science Barge. The group heard from Brigitte Griswold, Groundwork Hudson Valley's Executive Director and NPW board member, and learned about GWHV's mission and wide-ranging services from sustainability education to youth leadership programs.
ELPers also received a fun tour of the Science Barge led by Jason Bonet, Sustainability Education Associate. The tour was filled with mind-blowing information about sustainable urban farming, including ways to aquafarm and some hilarious taste tests of edible plants. At the end of the tour, ELPers networked with some wine and a delicious spread of cheeses set up by Karen Tumelty, Director of Development. Special thanks to our sponsor Adam Kintish of M&T Bank. Stay tuned for the Class of 2023 Application announcement in early October.

Please give your employees an hour of work-time, THIS WEEK, to pursue loan forgiveness on their own. You can pick a specific day/time for all staff, or simply let them know they can have an hour during the workweek. Send them to PSLF.nyc/navigator and they’ll take it from there. The U.S. Department of Education announced a temporary period during which borrowers may receive credit for payments that previously did not qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) or Temporary Expanded PSLF (TEPSLF). This waiver makes it easier for public service employees to receive credit for more payments. However, this waiver currently expires on October 31, 2022. Apply by Oct. 31.
