The application for the ELP Class of 2023 is now open!

NPW's Emerging Leaders Program is an 11-month professional development initiative designed to fortify the next generation of nonprofit professionals through learning that focuses on the social and systemic issues addressed by the nonprofit sector. Up to 30 participants engage in interactive trainings and have unique opportunities to network and share experiences with peers and leaders of NPW member organizations.

The Westchester County Youth Bureau and the Westchester County Youth Board are currently accepting nominations for the 2022 Youth Service Awards. Nominees must be a junior or senior in high school that resides in Westchester County. Nominators must describe how the individual has demonstrated leadership and/or service with a social justice lens in their community. Nominations must describe how the youth has made a social justice impact. Examples may include volunteerism within the following areas: Community Cohesion; Environmental Justice; Educational Connection and Achievement; Mental Health and Well-being; Physical Health and well-being. 

The Youth Board will select students for recognition at the Virtual Awards Ceremony to be filmed in December. More Information & Application. Nomination form due: 11/9/2022.

United Way of Westchester and Putnam's 2023 Nonprofit Leadership Summit will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. The sessions will also be live-streamed. 

Carla Harris will be one of the keynote speakers. She is an internationally renowned public speaker and the author of the books, Strategize to Win (2014) and Expect to Win (2009) and the newly released, Lead To Win (2022). She is a Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley. A full lineup of the 2023 Nonprofit Leadership Summit will be unveiled by February 1, 2023. NPW's Financial Management Learning Lab 2-session course kicked off on Tuesday October 25th. We were fortunate to engage the expertise of Tonia Papke, President, MDI Consulting, Phillip Morton, Chief Financial Officer, Hope's Door and Wendy Gottlieb, Financial Consultant, NPW. The instructors led an interactive and very informative workshop enabling participants to implement best practices specific to nonprofit financial management.

      Sustainable Westchester Commercial Clean Heating and Cooling Roundtable: Nov. 1, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM via Zoom

      Join the conversation around Real Time Energy Management (RTEM) to learn about the tools available to improve building performance as we transition to a clean heating and cooling standard. RTEM’s effectiveness is in the powerful combination of automated technology and human services which operate together to provide a valuable tool to increase efficiency & reliability when operating new heat pumps. NYSERDA’s Cody Glavey-Weiss will present two opportunities for technical assistance and funding to implement RTEM.

      2022 Westchester County Budget Public Input Session: Nov. 2

      Nonprofit New York's 2022 Voter Engagement Toolkit provides a wealth of information to effectively educate and mobilize communities for civic engagement leading up to the election. The toolkit for nonprofits includes checklists, FAQs, and sample content for nonprofits to encourage voting in their communities. As a reminder, the General Election is Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Polls are open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. Early voting is from October 29 - November 6, 2022.

      Exploring Peaker Power Plant Inequities and Solutions: November 10

      Join Sustainable Westchester in discussing the environmental justice impacts of peaker power plants, and how communities can band together to eliminate their use. This webinar will introduce the Clean Energy Group’s Peaker Plant Mapping Tool and provide an overview of how it can be used to explore the economic and racial disparities of peaker plants.

      Take the 2022 RACE To LEAD survey to contribute to new understandings of how these changes are impacting all nonprofit workers, leaders and organizations. The survey will explore new topics – like the experiences of frontline workers and changing expectations of nonprofit workplaces – while continuing to gather important information on the intersection of race, leadership and nonprofit culture.

      This new scholarship has much higher income eligibility levels, and may be available to your family even if you’ve never been included before. For example, a family of two: once “over-income” for child care financial assistance at $54,930, you can now have a gross income of up to $73,240 and be eligible for the Westchester Works Child Care Scholarship Program.
