NPW IT DISCUSSION FORUM

Do you have an Information Technology question and don't know who to ask? NPW members can now log in and post their IT questions or concerns on our IT Discussion Online Forum and receive responses from other knowledgeable NPW members. Try it out today! All IT-related questions are welcome.

Over 50 participants attended the Every Nonprofit’s Must Have IT Plan; Steps to Mitigate Risk and Seize Opportunity event on June 8th. Participants learned how to assess their IT needs and develop an IT plan that best fits their organization. Thanks to our moderator Heath Bloch, President and CEO, ANDRUS, and two expert panelists for leading such an informative program:

Supporting new Asylum Seekers in Westchester

 

Supporting New Asylum Seekers - 2nd Information Session
Friday, June 16 - 10:00 AM

A meeting to communicate the information we have regarding new asylum seekers in Westchester at Plaza Esperanza (Hope Plaza) and other locations so that in the future we can plan and coordinate will be held on Friday, June 16 at 10 AM. Nonprofits and faith-based organizations in Westchester County that are interested in supporting incoming asylum-seeking families and individuals in their settlement process are invited to participate in a meeting.

This meeting will be conducted via Zoom and registration is required. The agenda will cover various topics, including assessing the currently available resources, identifying immediate, ongoing, and long-term needs, discussing strategies for effective coordination among organizations, and recognizing the next steps in the process to serve asylum-seeking families and individuals best.

The organizing entities behind this meeting are Neighbors Link, Westhab, Nonprofit Westchester, Child Care Council of Westchester, Community Resource Center, Feeding Westchester, Make the Road New York, United Way of Westchester and Putnam, and the Westchester COAD.

Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Award Competition

The Community Partnership Award honors the outstanding contributions that nonprofit organizations, in partnership with public, private and other social sector organizations, make to our communities. The competition is now open; applications are being accepted through July 1, 2023.

Six organizations are selected by an independent committee to receive a Community Partnership Award.

  • The Thomas J. Moran Award is given to the national award-winning program and includes $100,000 and a documentary video about the program. 
  • The Frances R. Hesselbein Award is given to a partnership that is addressing social challenges in more than one community, or which demonstrates the potential to be replicated in other communities. This recipient receives $50,000.
  • Four other organizations are named Honorable Mention recipients for their programs, and each receives $50,000.

Governor Hochul Announces Availability of $2.2 Million For Programs to Connect New Yorkers With Addiction Services

Administered by the state Office of Addiction Services and Supports, the Connections to Care initiative will provide up to 11 grants for eligible providers to connect individuals in high-need and underserved populations to the services that will support long-term substance use disorder recovery and overall well-being. Funding will be awarded through a request for applications process. Eligibility details are outlined in the request for applications. Full press release.

Yield Giving Open Call - MacKenzie Scott Grant Opportunity

MacKenzie Scott is launching a $250 million “open call” for community-focused nonprofits. Through her organization Yield Giving, Mackenzie plans to make unrestricted $1 million donations to 250 nonprofits selected in the process, which she calls a “new pathway to support for organizations making positive change in their communities.”
