The Welcome Home Westchester Campaign Releases First White Paper: The Economic Benefits of Building the Housing We Need
The Welcome Home Westchester campaign of Building and Realty Institute and allied organizations released the campaign’s first white paper: The Economic Benefits of Building the Housing We Need. The white paper reviews data from national economic models, academic research, and local studies to describe in detail how building housing in communities sufficient to meet their needs brings with it short-term jobs, long-term jobs, an increase in revenue for local businesses, and a boost to property tax revenue. Far from an albatross, the paper concludes that housing is one of the most economy-boosting investments a city, town, or village can make.

Hurricane Ida Assistance for Undocumented New Yorkers
NY State will provide $27 million in relief for undocumented New Yorkers who were impacted by Hurricane Ida and who are not eligible for assistance from FEMA. Neighbors Link is one of the community organizations administering the program. Impacted families in Westchester and Rockland counties can call Neighbors Link at (914) 666-3410 for assistance. More details are available here.
Neighbors Link Executive Director, and NPW Board Member, Carola Otero Bracco said, "It is critically important that people in storm-impacted areas get the assistance they need regardless of immigration status, housing situation or ability to pay for insurance. Many undocumented residents have served as essential workers and play a critical role in our economy, but have often been excluded from most forms of government relief. Neighbors Link is grateful to Governor Hochul for looking out for those who do not qualify for other financial relief and looks forward to administering the storm relief plan."
