NPW UPCOMING EVENTS

September 12, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, WLS: Advocacy Learning Lab

There is a common misconception that 501c3 nonprofit organizations cannot engage in legislative lobbying or advocacy activities. This is not true. In fact, federal and state laws allow for these critical activities. Every nonprofit should know their rights and understand how to lobby and advocate to most fully achieve their missions and advance needed change.

EVENT RECAPS

On Thursday, August 1st, the Emerging Leaders class enjoyed a fun, food-filled visit to Feeding Westchester.

ELP alums, Christopher McGregor, Manager of Senior & Children’s Programs, and Martine Campoli, Director, Individual Giving, along with current 2024 ELPer Brittany Frieder, Senior Manager of Donor Relations, kicked off the session with an overview of Feeding Westchester’s mission, programs, and community partners in the fight against hunger in Westchester County.

Next, Tami Wilson, Chief Operating Officer, led an interactive presentation on the types of continuous improvement methodologies used to enhance productivity and efficiency, which included a lively paper airplane competition.

Although part of Feeding Westchester’s offices are under construction, the class took a tour of their newly expanded warehouse space, which included pop quizzes on the facts learned during the session. And thank you to ELPer Cora Rose, Manager of Agency Logistics, who joined Brittany in leading the tour.

After the tour, the class enjoyed a delicious plum cucumber salad prepared and presented by Monique Marshall, Nutrition Resource Manager, and Alyssa Advincula, Community Nutrition Educator. ELPers even went home with the recipe!

Thank you Feeding Westchester for being amazing hosts and shout out to our ELP Sponsor M&T Bank.
