Nonprofit Westchester Strong: The Guidance Center of Westchester

The Guidance Center of Westchester (TGCW) offers essential and lasting support to those challenged by mental illness, substance abuse, poverty, and homelessness. Throughout COVID-19, the TGCW team has rallied to ensure that programs and services remain accessible and available to those in need.  Below are just some examples of how TGCW is continuing to make a difference for Westchester’s most vulnerable community members through this pandemic.

  • Integrated services clinics, which include mental health and addiction treatment, are providing individual, family, and group counseling via telehealth – for those already living with mental health or addiction challenges as well as those who are seeking help for the first time.

  • TGCW’s Creative Learning Center in New Rochelle is available to provide childcare services (18 months – 5 years old) for essential employees and anyone needing help. No long-term commitments are required.

  • Opioid treatment program remains open and continues to ensure that those who are addicted to heroin or prescription pain medications can receive necessary treatment and support. While walk-ins cannot be accommodated, appointments are available for intake.

  • Personalized Recovery-Oriented Services (PROS) for people with serious mental illness is still providing individual and group therapy through telehealth.

“At TGCW, we like to say, “Together, we thrive.” Social distancing has shown us how true that is,” stressed Amy Gelles, CEO.
