CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS

- Governor Cuomo just announced a new program to cover the child care costs of income-eligible essential workers.

To be eligible, a worker must be employed outside the home in an essential occupation, have income under 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, and either has or would like to enroll a child or children in a child care program regulated by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

These scholarships currently cover the period from April 20th to May 15th, so please apply today. Learn more and complete the CARES application - Click Here.

In addition to administering the CARES Act Child Care Scholarship Program in Westchester, the Council is offering another child care scholarship fund for essential workers who meet higher income eligibility standards funded by the Westchester Community Foundation and RXR. Maria Imperial, CEO of YWCA of White Plains & Central Westchester and Member of the Board of Directors of Nonprofit Westchester, named to Governor’s New York Forward Advisory Board
- Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the formation of the New York Forward Reopening Advisory Board which will help guide the state's reopening strategy and will be chaired by Former Secretaries to the Governor Steve Cohen and Bill Mulrow. The board includes over 100 business, community and civic leaders from industries across the state. A list of the members of the advisory board is available here.
Jan Fisher, Executive Director of Nonprofit Westchester to Participate in Westchester County Association’s Post-Pandemic Work Group
- The Westchester County Association has recently launched a Post-Pandemic Working Group (PPWG), a select committee of business, nonprofit, and academic leaders who are working collaboratively to foster economic recovery and prosperity in the region.
- The PPWG is pursuing a comprehensive and cooperative approach to the region’s economic development challenges that were both created and made more apparent by the coronavirus crisis. It will cultivate and advance a series of legislative, regulatory, and developmental priorities focused not just on getting our economy restarted but also making sure it grows stronger and more resilient for the long term.
