Learn how your organization can benefit from a new Community Lawyering initiative being launched by Pro Bono Partnership, and give your input to help shape it.

This initiative is aimed at smaller nonprofits working in economically disadvantaged communities in Westchester, helping them to increase their capacity so they can increase community-driven development.

Instead of the usual Pro Bono Partnership process of connecting nonprofits to volunteer attorneys, Greg Kimble, their Equal Justice Works Fellow, will provide on-site legal assistance over a sustained period of time. This project is aimed at smaller organizations that may need extra assistance navigating their legal needs - especially those who aren't sure where to start.

By working with your community-based nonprofit over a sustained period of time, Greg can develop an understanding of your nonprofit's business and legal concerns and help you develop the legal resources and policies you need to improve efficiencies, minimize risk and build capacity.

You should attend if your organization:

  • is a smaller, community-based nonprofit (startups along with existing organizations)
  • is based in Yonkers, White Plains, Peekskill, Port Chester, New Rochelle, Ossining, or Mount Vernon
  • needs to assess legal risk and develop policies, but isn't sure where to start

Speakers: Maurice Segall,  Director, New York & Fairfield County Program and Greg Kimble,  Equal Justice Works Fellow
