Summer Hires: Legally Putting Interns and Volunteers to Work - Pro Bono Partnership

  • March 20, 2018
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Webinar

Our Summer Hires webinar is back! Join us for this always-popular webinar to learn how to navigate the use of interns and volunteers in your organization, including your obligations under state and federal employment laws. As you may know, in January 2018, the U.S. Department of Labor adopted a new “primary beneficiary” test for legally compliant internships. We’ll discuss that change as well as provide practical tips on how to most effectively use interns and volunteers in your workforce.

TOPICS WILL INCLUDE

  • The legal differences between interns and volunteers
  • The requirements of a legal internship, including a discussion of the U.S. Department of Labor’s recent adoption of the “primary beneficiary” test
  • The hiring process
  • Compensation
  • Other thoughts on how to effectively use interns and volunteers within your organization for the summer and all year round

SPEAKER

Jennifer Grudnowski, Esq., Senior Staff Attorney, Pro Bono Partnership
