Jan Fisher Invited to Present Testimony to the NY State Assembly; Emergency Food Distribution Grant Assistance to Nonprofits

NPW Executive Director Invited to Present Testimony the NY State Assembly Committee on Small Business

NPW Executive Director, Jan Fisher, was invited to present testimony on the federal response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on small businesses on NY State at a hearing on Monday, June 15th. 

Thank you to Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Small Business, Assemblyman Al Stirpe, Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti and members of the committee for recognizing that nonprofits are indeed important businesses, and have many overlapping as well as unique issues to confront as a result of the pandemic. 

Jan presented testimony to and answered questions from the members of the committee about the CARES Act, Immigrant Communities, Child Care, People with Disabilities, Self-Insured Nonprofits, Nonprofits with more than 500 employees, and more.

Emergency Food Distribution Grant Assistance to Nonprofits Impacted by COVID-19

In an effort to meet the needs of families facing food insecurity due to COVID-19, the County Planning Department is offering Emergency Food Distribution grants to nonprofits that provide these services in the municipalities with the highest percentages of low and moderate income households within the Westchester Urban County Consortium.

Eligibility: The program is intended for nonprofit organizations that have been providing emergency food distribution programs within their respective communities for at least three years as to have an established presence known for food distribution.
