2027 Advocacy and Policy Agenda Advancing strong nonprofit-government partnerships for Westchester Westchester’s nonprofit organizations are essential partners in the county’s social, civic, and economic infrastructure. They deliver public services on behalf of government partners that support individuals, families, schools, communities and businesses, employ a substantial share of the workforce, and bring unique expertise to public problem-solving. Nonprofit Westchester’s 2027 Advocacy and Policy Agenda calls for public policy that engages with nonprofits accordingly: as strategic partners in planning, investment, implementation, and accountability. 2027 GOAL: A durable nonprofit government partnership that improves individual, social, educational, health and economic outcomes for all people. Our Core Message: Westchester cannot achieve its public goals without a strong nonprofit sector. Nonprofits are not outside organizations asking government for funding and contracts; they are partners carrying out work central to government and the regional economy, community anchors, experts and employers. Public policy should reflect that shared responsibility through full-cost contracts, timely procurement, advanced and timely payments, fair workforce investment, meaningful participation in decision-making, and access to economic-development tools.
