Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center Memory Keepers Generations Forward Speaker-Debby Ziering
Please join the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center on March 11 at 7 p.m. from the safety and comfort of your home to hear Memory Keepers GenerationsForward speaker Debby Ziering.
Debby is the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. Her father, Herman, was born in Kessel, Germany. Herman was a teenager when the Nazis invaded Germany. He survived the Riga Ghetto in Latvia and Kaiserwald Concentration Camp. Debby tells his story and how it impacted her life.
The Ziering family story, as told by Debby, is recounted in the Herman and Lea Ziering Archive Center at the Manhattan College Genocide and Multicultural Center in Riverdale, NY. In addition to books and other resources, the archive includes artifacts from Herman’s work bringing Nazi war criminals to justice.
Debby has a master’s degree in speech language pathology and co-teaches 8th graders at SAR Academy in the Names Not Numbers© Program, an oral history film project, which enables students to interview Holocaust survivors about World War II and create a documentary.
