As in past years, State Senator Shelley Mayer and Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins collaborated on Black History Month events for their constituents in the 35th and 37th Senate districts.
In keeping with this year’s Black History Month theme, “Black Health and Wellness” they are holding a Zoom event on February 23 at 6 p.m. called “A Taste of History.” It will begin by chronicling the traditions of soul food in America with Chef Nikko of Evander's Fish & Chips in Yonkers followed by a conversation of how we can use food to recharge ourselves and maintain our well-being. A live cooking demonstration with Chef Nikko will follow and he will prepare a healthy version of a traditional recipe. Those who register for the event will get the recipe ahead of time so they can follow along.
