Re-opening Westchester: Resources, Information, and Events Nonprofit Westchester

Moving New York Forward

Governor Cuomo outlined a plan to reopen New York State which focuses on getting people back to work and easing social isolation without triggering renewed spread of the virus or overwhelming the hospital system.

Here are some important resources offered through NY State and other entities.

We thank County Executive Latimer and our partners in County Government for working so hard to make Phase 1 re-opening possible.

Industries Reopening in Phases

As most of you know by now, businesses in each region will re-open in phases.  The Mid-Hudson Region, of which Westchester is a part, is in Phase 1.

Re-opening refers to non-essential businesses and business activities. Essential businesses and business activities that are open will remain open.   Please note we are seeking clarification on where varying nonprofit organizations fall within the definitions of different industries referred to in the information provided by NY State.

Eligibility to Reopen

The New York Forward Business Reopening Lookup Tool will help your business determine whether or not it is eligible to reopen, and the public health and safety standards with which your business must comply.

Business Re-opening Template

Each re-opening business must develop a written Safety Plan outlining how its workplace will prevent the spread of COVID-19. A business may fill out this template to fulfill the requirement, or may develop its own Safety Plan. This plan does not need to be submitted to a state agency for approval but must be retained on the premises of the business and must made available to the New York State Department of Health (DOH) or local health or safety authorities in the event of an inspection.

Business owners should refer to the State’s industry-specific guidance for more information on how to safely operate.

Protect Yourself and Your Family from Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Although we are on the path to re-opening, it is still critical that we remain vigilant about health and safety.
