Nonprofit Westchester Strong: The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC)

The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC) empowers entrepreneurs to build successful businesses by providing high quality training programs, advisory services, and access to capital to generate economic growth in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. WEDC opens the door to business ownership for low-to-moderate income women and minorities in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley, and helps them to create profitable businesses to support themselves and their families.

During this crisis, small businesses are suffering greatly - having to close their doors and re-imagine what business would look like for the unforeseeable future. As the closure guidelines have continued, many small businesses are in critical need of immediate funding to maintain payroll and rent, and ongoing expenses - all while having to rethink their business models and operations - with the goal of offering their goods and/or services in compliance with the current social distancing guidelines.

As soon as the crisis struck, WEDC pivoted to provide immediate help with loan application assistance and one-on-one business counseling to help small business owners, particularly its low-to-moderate-income and Spanish speaking business clientsNow, WEDC will be there to help small business owners with the growing need for financial management assistance as they seek to qualify for PPP forgiveness of these loans, and to support them through ongoing guidance, goal setting and accountability to help them stay on track to rebuild their businesses.

WEDC, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) micro-enterprise development program, was formed in 1997 to help women achieve economic self-sufficiency through small business development. Learn more about WEDC by visiting wedcbiz.org or follow them on Facebook or LinkedIn.
